More Pictures:)

Mariah posing on the snow in our backyard.  Believe it or not under all of that snow are 3 steps down into the backyard.

I'm not sure when we will see out of our windows again...

Here is the measuring stick we put up in our backyard.  It is 10 feet tall...

This is the top of the fence around our backyard.  I don't think it is standing straight anymore.  When the snow finally melts we are going to be busy fixing things around here...

Wow

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures from today, but I will add some of a few I took from 3 days ago!  Today was an experience!  Over the last 24 hours I would estimate that we got an additional 20 inches of snow, yesterday's blizzard was amazing.  A little while ago we had some snow fall off of our roof and it landed against our window.  I decided I would head outside and get it off before anymore could fall against the window, as we have been warned that to much snow on the window can break it.  I put on my boots, gloves, jacket and hat; grabbed our trusty shovel and headed out.  This is a window that is right next to our front door, but because of all of the snow you actually have to walk around to the front yard and get at it from the street.  The only reason we can even do this is because we have paid a man ($90 per hour) to come to our house on 3 occasions with his huge front end loader (I think this is what it is called)  and remove snow from our yard.  After climbing up onto the snow to make the 30 ft trek to the window I realized that I would have to work just to get there.  I actually had to dig out a path to get to the window...  It was incredible I would step through the snow and it would go almost up to my waist.  Keep in mind that I did not hit the ground, just some snow that has been packed down over the last few months.  We have lost track of just how much snow has accumulated, but after the snowfall this week we should have gone over the 400 inch mark for this season.  We are also about to lose sight of the measuring stick we put in our back yard which stands 10 feet tall.  Incredible!  As I am typing this it is snowing:)

Dock Point Trail

What a view!

A view of the boats.

Mariah had a good seat!

The snow covered town of Valdez.

We saw a couple of Bald Eagle on the way home!

Adam had President's Day off so we went on a little hike:)  We went down Dock Point Trail and it was beautiful!  Enjoy the pictures!

Beautiful Morning!

A view overlooking Mineral Creek.

Fresh snow covered all of the trees.

Ponzi loves going full speed in the snow!

Its hard to believe but this is the top of a shed and the only part visible of the house to the right is the second story...

The bridge crossing Mineral Creek.

Crossing over Mineral Creek via the snow bridge!  Below us is running water!

You really warm up when pulling the kids in sleds!

Ponzi having fun:)

This did not last long, but it was fun while it lasted!

I was there too!
After snowing for the last 3 days we woke up to find a beautiful sunny day this morning.  We took advantage and walked the Mineral Creek Trail all the way down and actually crossed over Mineral Creek!  I was a little nervous crossing over a bridge made of snow, but we made it safely and if you didn't know any better you would have no idea there was running water below you!  It was beautiful out and not too cold so we had a great time.  Enjoy the pictures!

Mission Complete!

Adam cleared both sides above the garage!

He also cleared this side next to our back yard.

After being broken apart from the other side of the roof this side shed on its own, but didn't go to far as the ground was to close!

The roof is clear!  Adam did a great job shoveling 3 out of 4 sides of the roof and since the snow was broken up the 4th side slid off on its own.  Unfortunately there is so much snow on the ground there was not enough room for it to fall so you can see in the pictures how it is resting on the roof still.  It is a funny sight and one common around town.

Beautiful Day!

We had a beautiful day here in Valdez!  It has stopped raining and actually snowed a few inches last night which made everything beautiful and white again.  I got lucky and was able to go out and do some cross country skiing with a friend this morning.  I don't have any pictures from that because what I call skiing some call falling and I wasn't ready to risk the camera!  Then we got the kids out for a nice walk on the groomed trails around Mineral Creek, and finally to the pool for some swimming.  We are counting on the kids getting a good nights sleep after such an active day!  It is great to get outside and enjoy the beauty of this town!
